the usual "we listen to our players" crap put in front of the mandatory, "we need more money to keep the game alive" truth. the decision doesn't feel right to me, but that's not the point. the point is: your statement as to why you're doing it is hypocrisy and that sucks. a long overdue and much needed change would be to cut the crap and talk business instead of cheap stuff like that. it's a stunt, a very cheap one.

Originally by: Miriyaka what's the deal with CCP trying to make eve into every other mmo? do they really think the kind of people who play wow, warhammer, etc will have any interest in space spreadsheets online? no, but the several hundred thousand loyal subscribers you already have do have interest in space spreadsheets online, so cut this stupid shit out and play to your strengths.
stop homogenizing every aspect of your game, stop trying to mold it into some kind of twisted mutant hybrid of an incredibly-indepth market space sim and a bland mass-market grindfest.
so say we all!

Originally by: deadEd Good move CCP - now not only do I never want to bother rolling and maintaining alts, next time I get burned out by how unbelievably broken certain segments of this game are, I'll have no reason at all to even consider re-subbing later! Thanks for making up my mind for me, I appreciate it
indeed

Originally by: Mora Makur First, let's lets clarify:
Inactive / expired accounts = unpaid accounts If you paying and not logged in, your skills continue to train.
Ghost training, that is training a skill while not paying for the account, is at best an exploit. We were getting something for free, and now we are not. Why should you continue to accumulate skill when you are not paying for it? I'm actually angry that this exists. I am quite appreciative that they retain expired account data for as long as they do to begin with.
Those skills that take really long to get are meant to be very hard to obtain, which will require commitment and investment at the expense of other skill areas. That means you are actually going to have make the hard choice between specialist and generalist. A game with hard choices; now that's refreshing!
Every voice counts, and every opinion has a right to exist, so does yours. But the truth that's displayed by this thread is: You are the minority and the majority gets a kick in the butt. That's not the way it's supposed to be in my opinion.

No: FAIR!
Honestly, if you want to train, then you pay subscription!
If you have to leave, you stop training, when you wants to return, you return, and starts from where you ended! THAT is fair to those of us who do PAY and PLAY!
Then let us stop invention/production and stuff too and see how fair works out in the long term.

Originally by: Jesters Knight Ok, I am willing to give them the benefet of the doubt.
maybe they do have good features planned to offset it and there PR guy needs to be shot in the face for posting wrong.
If (and only if) the following two things are implemented I will reactivate my account. 1. Skill Que 2. Training multiple characters on the same account.
Screw #1 if #2 goes live :p
unfortunately i don't think either of those is gonna make it.

If they lock this thread, they're gonna lose another big chunk of credibility.

Complaining about alts is very interesting. Have you ever thought about where most your modules and ships actually come from? Remove alts (or the incentive to have an alt) from the game and enjoy the new market ...

Dear players, due to recent financing issues related to national problems we had to decide to disable ghost training for a limited amount of time. Due to our local banks unable to give us the necessary loans to expand our network and hire more programmers to implement the features you people desire, we saw no other chance doing so.
But please be asured this is only a temporary change, as we will rethink our priority list and reward everyone of you with a great new feature in return to be implemented before christmas:
Skill queueing goes in effect with the next major patch in the second week of December, at the same time ghost training will be back available to everyone. However skill queueing will only work if you have an active subscription.
We sincelery hope you understand this decision as we are forced to refinance immediate investments necessary to implement new features that CSM has requested to see available soon, as much as improving our network, hardware and database concept to cope with lag on fleet battles.
Furthermore, we will bring back 30 day time codes sometime next year. We hope this is a good compromise for all of us and we are looking forward to your feedback to discuss this matter before it goes into effect sometime soon.
Best Regards CCP whoever
CCP, if you did like that, I would say thumbs up. But most likely my reply is:
-4 accounts. Epic fail!
Truth.
Signed.
